LE REPOS DU GUERRIER

Sorry for the very long silence but have been busy, working on our IAFL album, and changing a little bit my 'web presence' (hold on... some one is doing almost everything for me there...

there is NOW a facebook page (and having got rid of a fake one), there is still one. the real one is here. all infos abot dates are there but do not expect a lot of socializing,

the main news is the website ivansmagghe.com which should relay all the blogs, info etc... there will be also a 'current affairs' section that will reflect my mood of the day, charts, whatever... It is still being polished so be indulgent.

Track of the day is already a favorite of the very close 'latete_atoto' dj duo who know than playing good records unmixed is a 100000000 times better than mixing boring house. and it is obviously dedicated to Keith and Jonnie.

just made intro and end playable really. GOOD TO BE BACK...

NOW AND NEXT...

Last Sunday, the French People elected a 'left-wing' president for the first time in seventeen years.

There is a lot behind my use of these '' but I won't dwell on it here. 'Le Changement' brings hopes, and if we all know that these may be quickly shattered, let's just enjoy the rare moment and realize that, all future dangers considered, the 'Other' is gone and dusted.

Kill The DJ has never hidden its political commitments and it has to be noted that our party on the Saturday before voting day was our busiest ever, to the point of taking real musical liberties.

After that, well, is after that...

There was quite a few rainbow and red flags on the Place de la Bastille, and even if La Marseillaise was compulsory, We consider this one also sung in our hearts and minds...

ROUTE 66-FIRST STAGE

I had been postponing for god knows what reason the moment of dabbling with a band that has been a constant inspiration since 1995.

Inspiring because true, sincere even in their lackluster moments (a few), blinding in their moments of brilliance (more than a few). Inspiring, let us not forget our vanity, also because so underrated (but by Stephane and Jerome from Rough Trade Paris, but they were guys who considered Big Flame or Terminal Cheesecake as 'the best bands in the world).

Listening to their whole discography, I am sure I will come back for more very very soon but this has to be a firm fave (not solely of mine, James Holden writing me back instantly-quote-oooooh, what was it?-unquote.

sequence remember

Small flashback on this here blog (have a dig in the early entries for the instrumental) but my long time partner Fany reminded me recently how much we were fan when we were doing 'TEST' on Radio Nova (late 90's) of the other ingredient of this...yes...mash up.

But don't worry, the puree is black beans and squid ink. A dark brooding violence that fits the dark days France is living at the moment and the ever necessity to keep the flame of anger alive.

A FEW THINGS FROM... I-CUBE

I have been waiting for a while to get one of the 'edit kings' on here. I-cube does not need introduction, not to you at least. Our trajectories have crossed many times (from Radio Nova to now), our taste have collided (a comparative graph-x=time, y=intensity of our love of new wave, cheese pop disco and psychedelia could be surprising)... Up to the point where we both dug out the same track to chop very recently. Hmmmm...

But what I love above all about MR Cube is his 'serious non-seriousness' about music. You'll decipher.

His (bonkers) album M MEGAMIX will be out on may the 7th on Versatile. More info here.

In the meantime, from the vaults (you'd love to have the key, believe me):
